Author Guidelines

The manuscript shall be written under the following rules:

The manuscript submitted to CoDE: Community Development and Empowerment Journal shall never be published elsewhere. Any manuscripts being processed by Community Development and Empowerment Journal never be sent to other journal or media until there is notification from Community Development and Empowerment Journal secretariat.

  • The Community Development and Empowerment Journal is published in English only (British English and American English) consistently throughout the text, and please be sure to write clearly and use correct punctuation; we recommend that non-native authors have their contributions proofread.
  • The article shall comprise of an abstract of 150-250 words. Please add three to five keywords. Please provide short biographical notes on the authors after peer review process.
  • The article shall be sent in the text as a plain Word. Organize titles and subtitles using a clear hierarchy; please do not use more than three levels of headlines. Include footnotes for digression or further argumentation sparingly. Avoid the use of bullet points or numerated explanations.
  • The articles shall be submitted via submission in Microsoft Word format (.Doc or .Docx) or Rich Text Format (.Rtf).
  • The author’s name shall include no academic degrees. If the article has more than one author, the primary author must be on the top of the others. If the team wrote the article, the author's name must be ordered according to the author's team. In the case of a script written by more than one author, Community Development and Empowerment Journal editors will only correspond to the main author or author listed in the first place.
  • References should follow APA Citation Style.

Structure of the manuscripts

Title. The title should be brief, short, clear, and informative which reflects the article content. The length of the title maximum of 15 words. Each word of the title should be started with a capitalized letter.

Authors names and institutions. The authors names should be accompanied by the authors institutions and email addresses, without any academic titles and/or job titles. International collaboration is highly encouraged.

Abstract. The abstract should be a total of about 150-250 words. The abstract should be a single paragraph and should follow the style of structured abstracts. The abstract with no references cited. Also, non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided. The abstract must contain (a) purpose; (b) method; (c) findings; and (d) novelty. 

Keywords. Immediately after the abstract, provide six (6) keywords (phrases). The keywords are the key concept of the manuscript, which will be used for indexing purposes. 

INTRODUCTION

The introduction provides comprehensive information on the situational analysis or conditions of the partner(s) that form the background of the community service activity. It outlines the problems faced by the partner(s), supported by a review of relevant research findings or previous community engagement activities, as well as the theoretical foundations underlying the program. The section should conclude with the objectives of the activity and, optionally, its expected benefits. This section should not include numbering or subheadings.

IMPLEMENTATION METHOD

This section should describe in detail the target audience or community partners, the time and location of the activity, the procedures or stages of implementation, evaluation instruments, and any materials or tools used (if applicable). The chosen method must align with the objectives of the activity. It should also be capable of measuring the achievement of outcomes, either qualitatively or quantitatively—such as changes in behavior, attitudes, or socio-economic and cultural conditions.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This section presents a detailed explanation of each stage of the activity, including the outcomes and processed data obtained during implementation, evaluation results, and indicators of success in addressing the identified problems. It also includes any challenges encountered, accompanied by an in-depth discussion of the results. The findings should be linked to relevant theories and/or previous research or community service activities, either supporting or contradicting them.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMENDATION

The conclusion should be drawn based on the Results and Discussion section. Suggestions or recommendations must be derived from the conclusion. Both the conclusion and the suggestions/recommendations should be presented in paragraph form, not as numbered or bulleted lists.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The acknowledgements should be addressed to individuals, organizations, or institutions that supported the implementation of the activity, particularly the funding sponsors. The wording should remain appropriate and not overly exaggerated.

REFERENCES

Citation and references in the article must use Mendeley Software in APA 7th edition style. All citations must be listed in this section. The number of citations must be the same as the number of references (not more or less).
